Training

What the Asbestos Awareness Course covers, how long it takes and how online learning works.

What is Asbestos Awareness Training?
Asbestos Awareness Training teaches workers how to recognise asbestos containing materials (ACMs), understand the health risks, avoid disturbing them and follow the STOP-CHECK-REPORT rule. It is required for anyone whose work is liable to disturb asbestos in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Our online Asbestos Awareness Course takes about 45 minutes to complete. You can pause and resume at any time - your progress is saved automatically. There is no time limit to complete the course once you have started.
Can I do Asbestos Awareness Training online?
Yes. Online Asbestos Awareness Training is widely accepted in Ireland. Our course is CAR 2006 compliant and the certificate is accepted by employers across all sectors. Online training offers flexibility to complete at your own pace, from any location.
What does the course cover?
The course covers what asbestos is and why the fibres are dangerous, the diseases it causes, where ACMs are commonly found, how to use the asbestos register and survey, the STOP-CHECK-REPORT rule, the basics of PPE and RPE, and your legal duties under the Exposure to Asbestos Regulations 2006 and 2010.
Certification

Certification questions.

Certificate validity, instant download and employer verification.

How long is the certificate valid?
The Asbestos Awareness Certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Refresher training should be completed before your certificate expires to maintain continuous certification. Some employers may require more frequent training based on their safety policies.
Is your certificate accepted by employers?
Yes. Our certificate is CAR 2006 compliant, CPD accredited, RoSPA approved and IATP recognised. It is accepted by employers across Ireland in construction, refurbishment, demolition, maintenance, facilities and the building services trades.
When do I receive my certificate?
You receive your certificate instantly upon passing the course assessment. The certificate is available as a PDF download immediately and can be printed or shared digitally with employers.
Can employers verify my certificate?
Yes. Each certificate includes a unique verification code. Employers can visit our certificate verification page to confirm the certificate is genuine and view when the training was completed.

Legal questions.

HSA duties, Irish regulations and the consequences of non-compliance.

Is Asbestos Awareness Training a legal requirement?
Yes. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Exposure to Asbestos) Regulations 2006 and 2010 (SI 386/2006, SI 589/2010), employers must provide awareness training to any worker who is liable to disturb asbestos containing materials. Failing to provide training can result in enforcement action by the HSA.
What is the HSA?
The HSA is the Health and Safety Authority - the national body responsible for securing health and safety at work in Ireland. The HSA sets standards, provides guidance, and enforces health and safety legislation including the asbestos regulations.
What happens if an employer does not provide training?
Employers who fail to provide required training can face HSA inspections, improvement notices, prohibition notices, and prosecution. If asbestos is disturbed because workers were untrained, the employer may face significant liability and compensation claims.
Employers

Employer questions.

Team training, bulk pricing and the employer dashboard for Irish businesses.

Do you offer team or bulk pricing?
Yes. We offer discounted pricing for employers training multiple workers. Our employer dashboard allows you to manage training, track completion, and download certificates for your team. View team pricing or contact us for a quote.
Can I track employee training completion?
Yes. Our employer dashboard provides real-time tracking of employee progress, completion dates, and certificate expiry. You can download reports for compliance records and receive notifications when certificates are due for renewal.
Safe practice

Safe practice questions.

How to recognise asbestos and the STOP-CHECK-REPORT rule used throughout our course.

What should I do if I find or suspect asbestos?
Follow STOP-CHECK-REPORT. Stop work straight away and do not disturb the material. Check the asbestos register and survey, and warn others to keep clear. Report it to your supervisor or duty holder, and do not resume until you are told the area is safe. Our course covers this in detail.
Can I remove or work with asbestos after this course?
No. Asbestos Awareness Training does not qualify you to remove, repair or work directly with asbestos. It teaches you to recognise ACMs, avoid disturbing them and report them safely. Most higher-risk asbestos work in Ireland must be carried out by trained or licensed asbestos contractors.
